STAINLESS STEEL WATER JET CUTTING

Unrivalled Cutting Capabilities & Large-Scale Capacity

WEC Jet offers one of the most versatile waterjet cutting services in the UK. Our facility is equipped with three state-of-the-art machines, allowing us to handle projects of significant scale and complexity. We can create intricate shapes and cut materials up to 200mm thick on a massive 7.3m x 2.4m bed, or up to 300mm thick on a 4m x 3m bed. Our technology achieves precision matching machined tolerances of +/- 0.1mm, ensuring that even the most complex designs are executed with absolute accuracy.

Beyond stainless steel, we excel in cutting high-strength steel, abrasion-resistant alloys, armoured plate, and composites. This expertise allows us to serve niche markets such as Aviation, Offshore, Quarrying, and Defence, as well as the fast-paced worlds of Formula 1 and Automotive. Our diverse material list includes everything from Aluminium, Copper, and Brass to Hardox®, Armox®, and even delicate materials like Glass, Ceramics, and Carbon Fibre.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Unlike laser or plasma cutting, waterjet cutting is a “cold” process. It uses a high-pressure stream of water and abrasive garnet to erode the material. This means there is no Heat Affected Zone (HAZ), which prevents the stainless steel from warping, discolouring, or losing its inherent corrosion-resistant properties.

We can cut virtually all grades of stainless steel, including the common 304 and 316 grades, as well as specialised Duplex and Super Duplex alloys. Because the process is mechanical rather than thermal, the hardness or grade of the steel does not negatively impact the quality of the cut.

At WEC Jet, our advanced machinery allows us to cut stainless steel up to 300mm thick. Even at these extreme thicknesses, we maintain impressive accuracy and edge quality, often eliminating the need for secondary machining or finishing processes.
